[ It really doesn't take him that much time, even when he was walking instead of riding Shadow's form. V doesn't knock right away, instead just pauses for a moment to look at the building, his mouth twisting in a grimace. He may not have been born at the time, but he still remembered coming here before, and, well, it hadn't been pleasant. Now he was own person, things were going to be different, that he promised himself.
Firming his resolve, he lifted his hand and knocked. ]
[ Impatience, thy name is Nero. Though really, can you blame him for wanting to get to the bottom of this kind of fuckery sooner rather than later?
Nero's working on the van a little bit more (mostly so that Nico stops complaining about being his "pet mechanic" when she knows full well that's not the case) when he hears the knock, and slides out from under it, wiping his hands on a nearby greaserag. ]
Lift up the door, it's cracked enough to let you in.
[ Giving the door a Look, V bends down and gives the door a proper push. If this was a few months back, he wouldn't have even the strength to do so, but as he was now... true he was never going to be as sturdy as the rest of the Sparda family, but he was still much more healthier than he had been.
Something that would be apparent to Nero when he ducks under the half-opened door to step inside. Still pale and thin, there was a touch of color to his skin and a definite lack of his breath catching in his throat. The tattoos were still there, as was the shadows staining his hair black and the not-quite human scent of his skin, but V was healthy and whole as he never been before. He also was dressed a little more normal with a loose black tee shirt under a distressed sweater, the usual leather pants and actual shoes instead of sandals. The cane was still in evidence as he leans against it as he took int he garage and the van. ]
It always surprised me at how that beast survived what Nico drove it through.
[ It's weird to see what's considered a part of your father walking, considering the last time he saw his father, that was when he and Dante had leapt into the depths of the Underworld. Never mind actually looking normal. Or at least the closest facsimile of normal that they can get. He gets to his feet and watches V with a wary eye, half-expecting to hear that Urizen - ... or, well, Vergil's pure demon side - returned. ]
Yeah, well ... it's gotta be able to take some sort of beating considering all we do.
Indeed, although I often wondered if she used some kind of demon hide for reinforcement. Excuse me a moment.
[ V reached into his jacket and took out a cellphone, hitting the speed dial and putting it on speaker. After a moment a familiar voice picked up. ]
You arrived?
Yes, speaking to him now.
[ There was a hum of acknowledgement and a distant yelp from the other end from one Dante and the sound of something breaking. A lot of something breaking. Vergil sighs. ]
I have to go. I'll... call later.
[ There's a dial tone before V says anything else and he just shakes his head, thumbing it off. It was still awkward, but at least that would help Nero with knowing that at least there wasn't going to be a repeat of the Qliphoth incident. ]
They are helping with the clean up in Red Grave City. Even with the Qliphoth completely gone from the mortal plane, there are a few pockets of demons that need weeding out. It's... something to help them talk, I suppose you can say. I didn't want to get in the way so I decided to check on other matters, and so came here.
[ Nero has no idea what's really going on here, but boy does he feel like he needs a strong drink or two at this point. He holds back the urge to pinch the bridge of his nose and instead just shakes his head before tilting it back with an exasperated sigh. ]
Considering all that bullshit before about "probably won't be coming back", that's definitely anti-climactic. Jackasses.
[ Not that he isn't relieved or anything, but that's not the point right now. ]
And never mind that there's always demons that need weeding out. It's kinda part of the job.
Vergil is carrying Yamato; they could leave Hell any time they wanted.
[ V shrugged, not really wanting to get into the whole mess that was the Sparda way of cooping. He was a Sparda by default, but he was also not, and it often made his head hurt at how much ridiculous antics he had suffered through when Dante and Vergil had realized he was not a sign of Vergil splitting apart again. ]
Yes, well, they aren't getting paid for it. [ Vergil because he caused it to happen and Dante because he was getting free pizza out of Vergil. ] But that's neither here or there.
In any case, I do owe you an apology and an explanation.
Yeah, but those two made it sound like they weren't coming back anytime soon. Ugh. Idiots.
[ He groans. Then again, they all had a flair for the dramatic, so he supposes that this shouldn't be all that surprising. ]
And no shit. Could've avoided a bunch of bullshit if you came clean earlier. [ Granted, Dante was also partially to blame in that case for not voicing his suspicions earlier. It just left Nero off-kilter and weird for a good few weeks after getting back to Fortuna. ]
[ He just shakes his head. Nero should have realized that the two were the kind to exaggerate even on their best days since he has had prior dealings with Dante, but it was no matter. They had other matters to discuss. ]
Would you have believed me if I had told you outright? That I am the... humanity of a man who tossed me aside in exchange for his demonic power? And that he was your father?
[ He really should know by now, but maybe considering the seriousness of the situation before, maybe Nero though that there was at least some subtlety. Unfortunately, that was more wishful thinking than anything else. ]
I might've been a bit skeptical, but weirder things have happened before. The dad bit might've been the more important part honestly.
[ The tree had been a big deal but they always forget that they were part demon and human which made them far more suited to fight to the roots and destroy it than a band of human hunters. Humans needed food and rest and the like. They did not. ]
That part I was unsure of from the start. Dante and Vergil are not the only half-demons living. They are just ones that know who their father is.
But then Yamato's reaction ended my questions. She knew you... and not because she was part of your arm.
[ He wrinkles his nose, frowning as V mentions Yamato. His father's sword ... it had technically saved his life at one point, then also been the source of how he ended up with the Devil Breakers, and then how he had somehow grown his arm back -
Yeah, shit's still weird. ]
Dante mentioned that before too, that Yamato's reaction was what sealed it.
Devil Arms can be... possessive, especially those handed down by blood. Yamato especially so given her abilities. It takes a special way of thinking to utilize her powers to the fullest.
[ Nero was a lot cruder and more open than Vergil. He took a bit after his uncle than his father, but, at his core, he still was closer to Vergil than he thought and the sword knew it. ]
That she accepted enough of you to become a part of you meant that you shared the same blood as her last wielder.
Don't take it so seriously. [ A quick smile that was almost a smirk as he waved his hand brushing it aside. ] I am just being cryptic again.
[ Which he knows is not something Nero wants to deal with but he has found was a part of him and not a left over strand of personality from Vergil. ]
What I mean is that Yamato needs more focus and less force to utilized fully. To cross into other places, someone using her needs to be able to picture precisely what they want and where they wish to go to get there.
[ Nero gives V a flat look at that. He really shouldn't be surprised but at the same time it's kinda fucking annoying.
Though -
V's further explanation about how Yamato works does let a few things click into place. Especially regarding when it first was restored in his hands back when he was dealing with the whole Order fiasco. ]
[ He tries but it's so hard not to that he just doesn't bother any more. ]
She knew you blood and when you called, she answered. I'm sure that with the proper instructions, you can tap into her abilities fully; I definitely know that you will inherit Yamato in due time.
I mean I've had it before, so that's not too surprising. But that's going to be a while before that happens, probably. Guy's died a couple times already and it hasn't stuck yet.
[ Judging from Nico's reply before about knowing how Dante's killed Vergil once before, though he hadn't been able to pry any information out of anyone about the background of that particular incident. ]
[ Despite his cane is kinda a sword in a way especially when he utilized the edge in some of his finishing moves.
V tucked his cane under his arm as he move close, finding a spot to slouch near Nero. To talk about the past, well, V knew that it should technically come from Vergil. After all, it would be his story to tell, right? But he knew the Sparda bloodline and their stubbornness too well. Veril admitting the past mistakes might not happen for a long time to come. ]
We are a little hard to kill, even those of us with only a touch of the Sparda blood.
The first time Dante killed Vergil wasn't on purpose on his end. The second time... was a mercy.
[ The memories were not his but they still lingered. V's hands curled in remembered pain and hatred, an echo of the hate he had felt when he saw the mockery of Nelo Angelo - a mockery of the torture inflicted on him by Mundus. And then there was the more recent events of how he fell apart and split into two sides...
Brother Urizen had called him and in a way they were brothers. Two sides of a man pushed beyond what he could endure, broken by the pride he couldn't let go of. V sighed softly, shaking his head and felt the pull as the huge demonic bird formed and settled on the van's hood. ]
There you go again, dwelling. What did I tell ya?
Yes, well, that is a trait I do share with him as much as he denies it.
